IRIAF Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi
The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF ) says the country has successfully tested the research model of a radar evading aircraft known as Sofreh Mahi (flatfish).
"The research model of Sofreh Mahi with the scale of one to six has successfully passed all radar evading tests and an actual size aircraft will be manufactured in the near future," IRIAF Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi told Mehr News Agency on Monday.
Shah-Safi hailed the march of progress at IRIAF, saying, "What we most care about is military preparedness and we are ready to counter the enemies of the Islamic Republic at any moment."
He further went on to say that Iran's Air Force will manufacture more advanced jet trainer aircraft in liaison with the Defense Ministry.
The senior Air Force commander noted that the IRIAF has managed to extend the range of its air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, adding that the range of Ghased (Messenger) precision bombs will rise to 100 kilometers in the near future.
Iran has launched a campaign for self-sufficiency in the country's defense industry, launching numerous military hardware projects, including aerial and sea-borne military vehicles such as submarines, combat frigates, and various types of missiles.
****Recalling the recent developments and revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa, the Iranian Air Force commander called on the armies of the region to become united with their people. "Regional nations should defend their revolutions and do not allow foreigners to control their destinies."
