Sub: Victims are under threat

Respected Sir

 

I want to draw your attention on the recent incident of intense force and threats by the Border Security Force personnel of Kaharpara Border Security Force camp. Today at 12 noon, the said personnel from Kaharpara camp came at Mr. Baidyanath Mondal's house at village- Harudanga and asked him to come with them. The personnel were led by senior officers, but not identified by their names. Some of them wore three stars on their bands. Mr. Baidyanath Mondal was brought to a nearby orchard by BSF personnel, where a member of Harudanga Gram Panchayet; Mr. Narayan Mondal was also present. In the presence of the said panchayet member and other local kingpins of cross border smuggling, the BSF personnel tried to obtain signature of Mr. Baidyanath Mondal on a prewritten paper. The BSF personnel asked him to withdraw his earlier complaint which he made on 25^th of March 2012 relating to BSF torture upon him and others, the BSF personnel and their cronies; the panchayet member and persons involve with illegal smuggling acts asked him to settle the issue 'amicably'. Mr. Baidyanath Mondal refused to oblige their demand. I got information that the said BSF cronies made a statement with utter falsification to oblige the BSF. I want to refer here that Mr. Baidyanath Mondal happen to be the father of Late Subodh Mondal; a schedule caste youth, who was killed by the BSF personnel on 16.11.2009 and a case has been initiated by the Commission vide Case No. 46/25/13/2010-PF. Another complaint has been made on the gruesome killing of four teenage boys by the said BSF personnel on 31^st December- 1^st January midnight and recently the bereaved families brutally torture while they were returning from a medical camp organized by us on 25^th of March.

 

The place of occurrence is such a remote place that it is nearly impossible to connect the victimized over telephone or mobile phones. The persons who dared to complained against BSF personnel facing tremendous force, subjugation and intimation. Their life is under continuous threats and danger.

 

I demand your Commission to guarantee their lives and physical integrity. I made complaints on behalf of these tortured and bereaved families before the Commission and onus of their well being lies with the Commission.
