SHRI JATUA VISITED AIR KOLKATA

Kolkata: June 30, 2010

The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Shri C. M. Jatua has visited All India Radio Kolkata office today. During his visit Shri Jatua met the Station Director and other senior officers of AIR Kolkata and enquired about different functioning of the station. Shri Jatua pointed out that till today people depend more upon AIR and Doordarshan for news, such is their credibility.

Senior officers of AIR Kolkata highlighted the problem the station is facing due to dearth of regular staff. AIR Kolkata also requested the minister to take necessary steps to provide FM Rainbow of AIR Kolkata with a new transmitter. They assured the minister that all the necessary measures have already started to be taken to spread FM listenership to more and more districts within the 11th five year plan.

The minister urged the AIR Kolkata authorities to look into the plight of the casual staffs in receiving their payments from a humanitarian point of view.
