The Colors

Working together for more than two and a half years now, The Colors, as they call themselves, are believed to be the pioneers of Hindi-Rock music in Eastern India. Their debut album 'Naya Din', released from Purple Muzik on January 2010, indeed promises the dawn of a new state of affairs in the contemporary popular music scenario. While they attempt to go beyond the black-and-white domain of reality to interpret the complex hues of human emotions through their music, their album 'Naya Din' delves deep into the psyche of the modern times.

The track 'Jannat' from 'Naya Din' topped the charts of a few local radio stations within two weeks of the album release, making it quite evident that The Colors' music has been accepted by a wide range of audience. Since the album release, time seems to be moving fast for the band, with live shows and recordings keeping them busy. Meanwhile The Colors have already started working on their next album, with which they promise to venture into a more experimental sphere of music.

The Band Members-

Rohan Choudhury- Vocals.

Rohan, a vocalist trained in Indian Classical music who also grew up on a staple diet of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Bryan Adams, adds an unique texture to the music of The Colors. His influences ranging from Western Rock to Sufi music provides him with a versatility which makes him the front-man of the band.

Nilanjan Mukherjee- Guitars/Backing Vocals.

Quite a well known musician in the city of Kolkata for over a decade now, Nilanjan is often regarded as the 'Blues-man of Kolkata'. His guitar playing technique fuses elements of Blues and Rock with innovative modern sounds. The music of the The Colors presents Nilanjan at his best exercising his matchless composition skills.

Abhik Mitra- Guitars.

A senior disciple of guitar virtuoso Amyt Dutta , Abhik brings forth a very fresh perspective to the music of The Colors. His unique Jazz-rock style of guitar playing provides their music with expressions which perhaps very few musicians manage to communicate.

Nabarun Bose-Keyboards/ Backing Vocals.

The youngest member of the band, Nabarun adds a whole lot of energy along with a wide range of feelings into the music of The Colors. Very much inspired by Pink Floyd, The Eagles and Bon Jovi, the quintessential keyboard player blends in conventional sounds with very modern cutting-edge ideas endowing their music with a very fresh notion.

Swagato Moitra- Bass/ Songwriter.

Swagato is thought-maker as well as the groove-maker for the band, interpreting the world through his words. Influenced very much by Sufi lyrics and Spanish poetry, Swagato's words create the very elementary basis of the range of emotions which the music of  The Colors probe into.

Pranjal Das –Drums.

Pranjal views the world through the lenses of an adventurer which perhaps contribute to his unique and experimental style of playing the drums. with a wide range of influence providing him with innovative ideas, his tight skin-and-stick work provide the backbone for the music of the band.
