GK Pilla the secretary for internal affairs is in Kerala now and according to him extremism - read Islamic extremism - is making inroads into Kerala now. Is it through Kashmir that these inroads are made? No! Most of the support for extremism in Kerala comes from the Gulf with Malayalis flying in and out of the gulf. So are we going to prevent talibanization of India by attaking the Gulf? The days wars over land and territories are over. Ideas and ideologies spread from all over and to all over  and there is little India or the US for that matter can . The defense of a country lies in the hands of the people and their goodwill. And good will of the people can come only from their welfare though strident propaganda can may have temporary effects. According to me Nasalism is now a threat that equals or exceeds the threat of Talibanism and Naxalism is a threat from within that can only be remedied by welfare programs that can be financed by the money we throw down the drain in illusions of defense or security.

Extreme ideologies - Taliban/al-Qaeda, Hindutva, KKK, ... - are cancers of the societies. They spread rapidly and are lethal. And so, we need to eliminate them - no matter where and how little or large. We don't want to see these 'merchants of death' in any society, any country, any neighborhood.

The Taliban are not democrats. They don't need "support" to take over and makes Kashmir into another hell.

The Abdullah family is engaging in fear-mongering to protect its interests. They want their dynastic and corrupt rule to continue

If we want to go against the tide of public opinion and try to keep Kashmir with us then the worst thing we can do is demonize Kashmiris or insult them by saying that they will get Talibanized or that Taliban will take over.  We must address their genuine concerns and complaints.  Please read the well-researched articles on Kashmir militancy by Yogindar Sikand.  He is no supporter of Taliban.  I had posted some of his articles here in the recent past.

Taliban's terrorism has cost them most of their little support they had in Pakistan.  The miniscule support they have left is based more on "revenge" for American drone attacks or Musharraf's attacks on Lal Masjid.

The more Kashmiris we will kill or rape the more chances of they becoming more militant.

The Taliban fear-mongering has no foundation when it comes to Kashmir.  it is like the British saying in 1946 that if we leave India RSS would take over. Atleast RSS had more support in India than Talibans have in Kashmir. I am not equating the British Raj to Indian rule but answering the fear-mongering about 'talibanization". We must think from the Kashmiri's point of view and use a strategy that will win their hearts.

Here is what Imran Khan has to say about the Talibans:
here is his take on Pakistani society:
