An Appeal for Flood Relief in Pakistan
  • We Request to Doctors, Students, Youth activists  to volunteer for relief work, 
  • concerned people Please donate donate medicine

 

Dear Friends,

 
You may already be aware of the devastating floods triggered by unusually heavy monsoon rain that have scoured the Indus River basin for two weeks. "Nearly one-fifth of Pakistan has been badly hit by the floods, the worst for the country in 80 years. Over 1,700 people have died and the UN says more than 6,50,000 people are without basic shelter while six million desperately need emergenc (NDTV News 19th August2010)" .  Over the course of July and early August, monsoon rainfall caused the worst floods in living memory in Pakistan. At least 288,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed.  (Please see some pictures attached)

In our recent visit to Pakistan during our Indo- Pak peace yatra on August 15th ,  we came to that there is a dire need for medical professionals and medicines for the affected people of Pakistan.

 

1.      We appeal to all concerned Indian Doctors specially general practitioners and MD medicine to come forward and Volunteers your services for the Flood affected people of Pakistan.

 

2.      We also Appeal all the concerned people to donate medicine for the flood affected people specially the medicines for Malaria, Gastroenteritis, Skin diseases, Snake Bites and other general medicines. (Some list of medicines are attached. )

3.              We also call youth activists and college students to join a team of 25 to volunteers for the relief work in Pakistan.

Those volunteering should be willing to work in adverse conditions and must be mentally prepared to spend about a month in Pakistan.
