The refugees, the victims of the Partition of Bengal, who were expatriated to Dandakaranya, cherished to build their hearth and home on the soil of Bengal, at Marichjhanpi in the Sunderban region of West Bengal. Anxious to come to Marichjhanpi, the refugees were invited to settle there by the leaders and ministers of the Left Front. After a period of one year, in 1979, the Left Front Government chased them away by applying state power and killing.
After a long lapse of time, for the first time now, this volume of 416 pages has been published with authentic information, documents and numerous photographs on Marichjhanpi. It contains writings of 30 refugee leaders, activists, aggressed and wounded persons. They lodged a complaint at the High Court against firings and obstruction of food supply by the Left Front. Saumen Guha has analysed this complaint case in the High Court. Shakya Sen went to Marichjhanpi for investigation. That investigation experience is penned by Shakya Sen. Diary of Debabrata Biswas. Boat license in Marichjhanpi issued by the Left Front Government. All these materials appear in this volume.
