Arabian Sights..... REALLY EXCITING TIMES AHEAD!! Lab officials excited by new H-bomb project For the first time in more than 20 years, U.S. nuclear-weapons scientists are designing a new H-bomb, the first of probably several new nuclear explosives on the drawing boards. If they succeed, in perhaps 20 or 25 more years, the United States would have an entirely new nuclear arsenal, and a highly automated fac- tory capable of turning out more warheads as needed, as well as new kinds of warheads. "We are on the verge of an exciting time," The nation's top nuclear weapons executive, Linton Brooks, said last week at Lawrence Livermore weapons design laboratory 'Deterrent Lite' - A Look at Britain's and France's Nuclear Arsenals For Great Britain and France, the possession of nuclear weapons is a question of national "pride", but neither country wants to eliminate its deterrent in the future. For cost reasons alone, though, the countries' arsenals are expected to shrink in the coming years. France and Great Britain are part of a small club of the five official nuclear powers. The French force de frappe, or deterrent, is made up of approximately 300 nuclear warheads, while the British Royal Navy has just over 160. Both have fleets of four nuclear-powered and nuclear-armed submarines, of which one is always at sea. Paris maintains four more squadrons of planes with nuclear weapons, three on the ground and one at the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier... ------------------------------- U.S. Nuclear Weapons in Europe ...nuclear bombs in Europe are the last of a huge arsenal of forward-deployed weapons that NATO and the Warsaw Pact used to deploy in Europe during the Cold War. The Soviet Union deployed nuclear weapons in Eastern European countries, but all of these weapons have been withdrawn to Russia. On the NATO side...In 1991, the U.S. government decided -- and NATO agreed -- to withdraw almost all of the remaining weapons, but left 480 air-delivered bombs in place. Today, the United States is the only nuclear power that continues to deploy nuclear weapons outside its own territory. The approximately 480 nuclear bombs in Europe are intended for use in accordance with NATO nuclear strike plans, the report asserts, against targets in Russia or countries in the Middle East such as Iran and Syria. The report shows for the first time how many U.S. nuclear bombs are earmarked for delivery by non-nuclear NATO countries. In times of war, under certain circumstances, up to 180 of the 480 nuclear bombs would be handed over to Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Turkey for delivery by their national air forces. No other nuclear power or military alliance has nuclear weapons earmarked for delivery by non-nuclear countries... ---------- "Little Boy" ------------ The Criminal Who Dropped the Bomb "Little Boy" on Hiroshima : "No regrets" Paul Tibbets, who piloted the B-29 bomber Enola Gay that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, died Thursday. He...insisted almost to his dying day that he had no regrets about the mission and slept just fine at night. Tibbets had requested no funeral and no headstone, fearing it would provide his detractors with a place to protest, Newhouse said. www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1A1-D8SL1G4O1.html ------------- The three surviving criminal crew members of the Enola Gay : "No regrets" The five-ton "Little Boy" bomb was dropped on the morning of 6 August 1945, killing about 140,000 Japanese, with many more dying later. On the 60th anniversary of the bombing, the three surviving crew members of the Enola Gay - named after Tibbet's mother - said they had "no regrets". ----------- US-NATO War Agenda | | | | | | ------------- | Iraqi cancers, birth defects blamed on U.S. depleted uranium www.seattlepi.com/national/95178_du12.shtml --------------- Radioactive weapons used by U.S./NATO in Kosovo www.iacenter.org/depleted/duyug.htm ---------------- Depleted Uranium Being Used on Palestinian People http://politicsnpoetry.wordpress.com/2009/01/05/depleted-uranium-being-used-on-palestinian-people/ ------------- Native Americans Bear the Nuclear Burden [Original pagination given in slash marks, e.g. /4/ ends page 4.] Reprinted from Indigenous Affairs, January/February/March 1996. Published by the International Work Group for Indigenous Affairs. Native communities, primarily in the western US, have been chronically exposed to low doses of radiation for over forty years. This exposure derives from the many nuclear activities on indigenous lands such as uranium mining and milling, uranium conversion and enrichment, and testing of nuclear weapons. More than one half of all US uranium deposits lie under reservation land. In the past, the Secretary of the Interior was authorized to lease tribal mineral resources for national defense purposes...
