Bangla New Year 1417: http://www.shahidulnews.com/2010/04/live-webstream-bangla-new-year/

Well it's the beginning of 2067 in Nepal,  Biju in the Chittagong HIll Tracts and the first day of 1417 in the rest of Bangladesh and in West Bengal. The Bangla New Year celebrations by Chhayanut will be broadcast live through Drik ICT. The broadcast from Ramna Botomool in Dhaka is being done jointly by Drik ICT, Telnet Communications and Channel-i and will be available live from 06:15 am (Dhaka time) on the 14th April 2010.

The Nation or Chatra League...? By Rahnuma Ahmed: http://www.shahidulnews.com/2010/04/the-nation-or-chhatra-league/

Play by Yto Barrada: http://www.shahidulnews.com/things-friends-have-been-up-to/

Yto Barrada's work over the past two years has looked at the botany of power: the marketing of Morocco and assessed the status of the palm tree, that icon of exoticism and self-folklorisation. The exhibit PLAY, shown for the first time at Sfeir-Semler Gallery, Beirut, extends this inquiry through sculptures, installations, projections and photographs.

Democracy is Dead: Editorial, The Sunday Leader, 11 April 2010: http://www.shahidulnews.com/2010/04/democracy-is-dead/

Switch off the lights. Rend your hair. Don only white. It is time to go into mourning. An old and ailing relative  democracy, has died an inevitable death. Dead at barely 60 years old though the abuse it suffered during its short life span made it appear much older.
