Labourers engaged by Army and Para Military Forces in J&K

New Delhi: May 5, 2010

 

Like other States of the country, Labour Laws have been extended to the State of Jammu & Kashmir as well. The labourers engaged by Army, Paramilitary Forces in the State are fully covered under various labour laws in respect of wages and other amenities.

 

In so far as insurance is concerned, as per provisions of Section 2 (9) of ESI Act, 1948, the Act does not apply to persons employed by Indian Naval, Military or Air-forces.

 

This information was given by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shri Harish Rawat in the Rajya Sabha today, in a written reply to a question by Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz.

Operation of NCLP in the Country

New Delhi: May 5, 2010

 

Government is implementing the National Child Labour Project (NCLP) Scheme in 266 child labour endemic districts of the country. Under the Scheme, children withdrawn from work are enrolled into the special schools where they are provided with bridging education, vocational training, nutrition, stipend and health care facilities.

 

Under NCLP Scheme, 6.22 lakh children were mainstreamed into regular education system so far.

 

This information was given by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shri Harish Rawat in the Rajya Sabha today, in a written reply to a question.
