India Aviation 2010

India Aviation 2010, the second International Exhibition and
Conference on Civil Aviation is being jointly organised by the
Ministry of Civil Aviation and Federation of Indian Chambers of
Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Hyderabad from 3 to 7 March, 2010. It
is expected to provide aviation and allied industrialists to interpret
exposition of their product/ services into business. The Exhibition
is also expected to demonstrate and education the public at large on
latest aero-space technology available globally.
While France is the partner country and USA the focus
country, there will be country pavilions from Canada, Czech Republic,
Germany, Russia and the Netherlands. Around 200 companies have
confirmed their participation in the Air Show. There will be 115
companies from overseas and the rest from India. The first time, the
AN 148 aircraft will be on display in India. It's from Antonov UAC-
Russia. For static and flying display, there will be over 40
aircrafts against 35 that were there in India Aviation 2008. Over 18
hospitality chalets have been taken by various companies from India
and overseas to have meetings with their prospective customers in a
typical airshow atmosphere. Besides this, there will national and
international speakers at the Conference alongwith inputs from all
stakeholders.

Augmentation of telecom network in Assam
New Delhi: February 22, 2010
Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Department of
Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a Scheme to provide sufficient
back-haul capacity to integrate the voice and data traffic from the
access network in the rural areas to their core network by
strengthening the OFC network. This scheme considers OFC Network
augmentation between the Blocks' HQ and Districts' HQ to begin with.
USOF, through this Scheme, shall provide subsidy support for
augmentation, creation and management of intra-district SDHQ-DHQ OFC
Network on the condition that it will be shared with other Telecom
Operators at the rates prescribed in the Agreement. Assam has been
taken up first for implementation. BSNL will implement the scheme in
Assam.
This OFC Scheme would be undertaken on BOO model, i.e. build, operate
& own basis, and accordingly, BSNL would build, operate, own and
manage all the equipment/infrastructure for the provisioned
intra-district augmented/created OFC Transport network to connect 354
total locations in Assam that includes 58 en-route/new locations, in
addition to 269 SDHQs, in total 27 DHQs.
All locations shall be connected on physical OFC Ring Route(s) with
the DHQ node ensuring the cable route diversity and ring capacity of
at least 2.5 Gbps, with the capability to efficiently transport
various protocols, including TDM, IP, Frame Relay, ATM, etc., for
integrated voice, data and video signals in all districts of ASSAM
within 18 months from the date of signing of the Agreement. The
Agreement shall be valid for a period of seven years from the
effective date.
At least 70% of the subsidized bandwidth capacity, created under the
scheme, shall be shared with the licensed service providers in the
area of ASSAM at a rate not more than 26.22% of the current TRAI
ceiling tariffs.

Symposium organised on Encouraging Tourism Exchange in India
New Delhi: February 22, 2010
The Secretary, Union Ministry of Tourism Shri Sujit Banerjee has said
that in a world that is becoming increasingly inter-independent with
each passing year, tourism has emerged as one of the key areas for
enhanced cooperation and mutual understanding amongst different
nations. He was inaugurating UNWTO Symposium on Encouraging Tourism
Exchange in India here today. The symposium was organized with an aim
to advance strategic and global partnership between India and Japan in
Tourism Sector. Shri Sujit Banerjee said, India and Japan are ancient
civilizations and share a long history of religious, intellectual and
cultural interactions. As important partners in Asia, both the
countries aspire for strengthening peace and prosperity in the region
through a shared commitment to the principles of democracy, rule of
law, independent judiciary and free press. He said, Buddhism, which
originated in India, was received by millions in Japan.
Shri Banerjee said, both the countries have similar family values,
respect for elders and love for traditional arts. These similarities
now also extend to other areas with both India and Japan occupying
important positions, as growth centers of global economy. He said, the
transformation of India-Japan relations to realize their true
potential has long been the vision of our Prime Ministers.
Secretary Tourism noted with happiness that tourist arrivals from
Japan to India is increasing steadily. He said, India received a total
of 150732 tourists in 2008 and Japan is one of the top ten source
market for India. He said, people-to-people exchanges have been
further enhanced through joint collaboration in India's revival of the
Nalanda University as a regional centre of learning and the
establishment of a Chair on Indian Studies at the University of Tokyo.
During the recently concluded Buddhist Conclave held in Nalanda in
Bihar, a delegation from Japan comprising Tour operators, Media
members and Buddhist Scholars actively participated in the programme.
Shri Sujit Banerjee said, the Government has recently taken several
initiatives to establish India as one of the lesading tourist
destinations. These measures include, Visa on arrival, Wellness and
Medical Tourism, Rural Tourism, providing more opportunities in
Adventure Tourism, upgrading MICE facilities, Caravan Tourism and
upgradation and modernisation of Infrastructural facilities and
Airports. He urged the delegates participating in the symposium to
create awareness about India in their country to serve a larger cause
of creating brotherhood and mutual understanding amongst nations.

Japan in India, Mr. Yuichiro Honda – Chief UNWTO Regional Support
Office for Asia and the Pacific & President of APTEC and Mr. Hiroshi

IAF fire power demonstration at Pokharan on Feb 28
New Delhi: February 22, 2010
In a first ever display of its precision strike capability by night, a
mammoth fire power demonstration (FPD), codenamed 'Vayu Shakti-2010',
showcasing the operational capabilities of IAF by day, dusk and night
will be held at the sprawling Chandan Air-to-Ground Range, Pokharan on
February 28.
The FPD will demonstrate the day and night employability of air power
by frontline fighter aircraft of the IAF including Su-30 MKI,
Mirage-2000, Jaguar, Mig-21 and Mig-29. The transport aircraft include
AN-32, Embraer and IL-76, while Mi-17 1V and Mi-35 attack helicopters
will constitute the rotary wing ingredients.
For the first time AWACS will be used to monitor the mammoth exercise
while an unmanned aerial vehicle will stream live video images of the
target destruction. In addition to the 65 aircraft participating from
all IAF Commands, 30 standby aircraft in air and an equal number on
ground will make it one of the biggest participation by IAF aircraft
in any such FPD ever.
Mock radar sites, tanks, marshalling yards, terrorist camps, runway,
BMP (infantry fighting vehicles), blast pens and convoys are among few
of the targets that pilots will seek to destroy. Para-drop and troop
insertion of Garud - IAF's Special Forces to neutralize a terrorist
camp will also be on display.
The other attractions will include aerobatics display by Surya Kirans
and Sarang, display by IAF sky diving team - Akash Ganga and
renditions by IAF Symphonic Orchestra.
The FPD is a collective display of skills and accuracy in weapon
delivery by pilots at the end of their training year. The exercise
also aids commanders and planners to gain better insight into the
potential and deployment capabilities of aerial weapons.

India Aviation 2010

India Aviation 2010, the second International Exhibition and
Conference on Civil Aviation is being jointly organised by the
Ministry of Civil Aviation and Federation of Indian Chambers of
Commerce & Industry (FICCI) in Hyderabad from 3 to 7 March, 2010. It
is expected to provide aviation and allied industrialists to interpret
exposition of their product/ services into business. The Exhibition
is also expected to demonstrate and education the public at large on
latest aero-space technology available globally.
While France is the partner country and USA the focus
country, there will be country pavilions from Canada, Czech Republic,
Germany, Russia and the Netherlands. Around 200 companies have
confirmed their participation in the Air Show. There will be 115
companies from overseas and the rest from India. The first time, the
AN 148 aircraft will be on display in India. It's from Antonov UAC-
Russia. For static and flying display, there will be over 40
aircrafts against 35 that were there in India Aviation 2008. Over 18
hospitality chalets have been taken by various companies from India
and overseas to have meetings with their prospective customers in a
typical airshow atmosphere. Besides this, there will national and
international speakers at the Conference alongwith inputs from all
stakeholders.

Augmentation of telecom network in Assam
New Delhi: February 22, 2010
Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of Department of
Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a Scheme to provide sufficient
back-haul capacity to integrate the voice and data traffic from the
access network in the rural areas to their core network by
strengthening the OFC network. This scheme considers OFC Network
augmentation between the Blocks' HQ and Districts' HQ to begin with.
USOF, through this Scheme, shall provide subsidy support for
augmentation, creation and management of intra-district SDHQ-DHQ OFC
Network on the condition that it will be shared with other Telecom
Operators at the rates prescribed in the Agreement. Assam has been
taken up first for implementation. BSNL will implement the scheme in
Assam.
This OFC Scheme would be undertaken on BOO model, i.e. build, operate
& own basis, and accordingly, BSNL would build, operate, own and
manage all the equipment/infrastructure for the provisioned
intra-district augmented/created OFC Transport network to connect 354
total locations in Assam that includes 58 en-route/new locations, in
addition to 269 SDHQs, in total 27 DHQs.
All locations shall be connected on physical OFC Ring Route(s) with
the DHQ node ensuring the cable route diversity and ring capacity of
at least 2.5 Gbps, with the capability to efficiently transport
various protocols, including TDM, IP, Frame Relay, ATM, etc., for
integrated voice, data and video signals in all districts of ASSAM
within 18 months from the date of signing of the Agreement. The
Agreement shall be valid for a period of seven years from the
effective date.
At least 70% of the subsidized bandwidth capacity, created under the
scheme, shall be shared with the licensed service providers in the
area of ASSAM at a rate not more than 26.22% of the current TRAI
ceiling tariffs.

Symposium organised on Encouraging Tourism Exchange in India

The Secretary, Union Ministry of Tourism Shri Sujit Banerjee has said
that in a world that is becoming increasingly inter-independent with
each passing year, tourism has emerged as one of the key areas for
enhanced cooperation and mutual understanding amongst different
nations. He was inaugurating UNWTO Symposium on Encouraging Tourism
Exchange in India here today. The symposium was organized with an aim
to advance strategic and global partnership between India and Japan in
Tourism Sector. Shri Sujit Banerjee said, India and Japan are ancient
civilizations and share a long history of religious, intellectual and
cultural interactions. As important partners in Asia, both the
countries aspire for strengthening peace and prosperity in the region
through a shared commitment to the principles of democracy, rule of
law, independent judiciary and free press. He said, Buddhism, which
originated in India, was received by millions in Japan.
Shri Banerjee said, both the countries have similar family values,
respect for elders and love for traditional arts. These similarities
now also extend to other areas with both India and Japan occupying
important positions, as growth centers of global economy. He said, the
transformation of India-Japan relations to realize their true
potential has long been the vision of our Prime Ministers.
Secretary Tourism noted with happiness that tourist arrivals from
Japan to India is increasing steadily. He said, India received a total
of 150732 tourists in 2008 and Japan is one of the top ten source
market for India. He said, people-to-people exchanges have been
further enhanced through joint collaboration in India's revival of the
Nalanda University as a regional centre of learning and the
establishment of a Chair on Indian Studies at the University of Tokyo.
During the recently concluded Buddhist Conclave held in Nalanda in
Bihar, a delegation from Japan comprising Tour operators, Media
members and Buddhist Scholars actively participated in the programme.
Shri Sujit Banerjee said, the Government has recently taken several
initiatives to establish India as one of the lesading tourist
destinations. These measures include, Visa on arrival, Wellness and
Medical Tourism, Rural Tourism, providing more opportunities in
Adventure Tourism, upgrading MICE facilities, Caravan Tourism and
upgradation and modernisation of Infrastructural facilities and
Airports. He urged the delegates participating in the symposium to
create awareness about India in their country to serve a larger cause
of creating brotherhood and mutual understanding amongst nations.

Japan in India, Mr. Yuichiro Honda – Chief UNWTO Regional Support
Office for Asia and the Pacific & President of APTEC and Mr. Hiroshi
Tabata – Director General, Regional Develmnt Dept, Japan Tourism
Agency (JTA) along with 100 participants have attended the daylong
symposium. Representatives from UNWTO, IATO, TAAI, TAFI, HAI, FHRAI
and ATOAI also attended the sumposium.

IAF fire power demonstration at Pokharan on Feb 28
New Delhi: February 22, 2010
In a first ever display of its precision strike capability by night, a
mammoth fire power demonstration (FPD), codenamed 'Vayu Shakti-2010',
showcasing the operational capabilities of IAF by day, dusk and night
will be held at the sprawling Chandan Air-to-Ground Range, Pokharan on
February 28.
The FPD will demonstrate the day and night employability of air power
by frontline fighter aircraft of the IAF including Su-30 MKI,
Mirage-2000, Jaguar, Mig-21 and Mig-29. The transport aircraft include
AN-32, Embraer and IL-76, while Mi-17 1V and Mi-35 attack helicopters
will constitute the rotary wing ingredients.
For the first time AWACS will be used to monitor the mammoth exercise
while an unmanned aerial vehicle will stream live video images of the
target destruction. In addition to the 65 aircraft participating from
all IAF Commands, 30 standby aircraft in air and an equal number on
ground will make it one of the biggest participation by IAF aircraft
in any such FPD ever.
Mock radar sites, tanks, marshalling yards, terrorist camps, runway,
BMP (infantry fighting vehicles), blast pens and convoys are among few
of the targets that pilots will seek to destroy. Para-drop and troop
insertion of Garud - IAF's Special Forces to neutralize a terrorist
camp will also be on display.
The other attractions will include aerobatics display by Surya Kirans
and Sarang, display by IAF sky diving team - Akash Ganga and
renditions by IAF Symphonic Orchestra.
The FPD is a collective display of skills and accuracy in weapon
delivery by pilots at the end of their training year. The exercise
also aids commanders and planners to gain better insight into the
potential and deployment capabilities of aerial weapons.
